Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Open Enrollment Advisor ("OEA," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the OEA service (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Identifying information: first name, last name, date of birth, sex (for life insurance underwriting), mailing address, email address, and phone number (if you provide one).
- Conversation content: the questions, answers, and details you share while using OEA, including information about your household, finances, health context, and benefits priorities.
- Plan documents: the open-enrollment guides and benefit summaries you upload or that your employer makes available to OEA.
Information collected automatically
- Standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and usage timestamps. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
2. How We Use Information
- To generate personalized benefits enrollment recommendations.
- To deliver the recommendations to you by email and (if you provide a phone number and consent) by SMS or voice message.
- To pass relevant information to Pendella, our life-insurance partner, so they can present quote options or contact you about coverage. See "How We Share Information" below.
- To pass relevant information to a licensed benefits advisor if your situation calls for human follow-up.
- To improve the Service, including by analyzing aggregated and de-identified usage patterns.
- To comply with our legal obligations and protect our rights.
3. How We Share Information
With Pendella
We share the information you submit on the intake form, and your relevant benefits answers, with Pendella so Pendella can contact you about life-insurance products. Your relationship with Pendella is governed by Pendella's own terms and privacy policy.
With OEA itself
We may also use the contact information you submit to email, call, or text you about your recommendations and any follow-up that helps you complete enrollment.
With service providers
- Anthropic, PBC — provides the AI model that powers OEA's recommendations. Anthropic processes the conversation and plan content under its own service terms.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers for storing and serving the application.
- Email and SMS delivery providers for sending the communications you've consented to.
With licensed advisors
If you opt in to advisor follow-up, we may share your contact information and a summary of your situation with a licensed insurance agent, broker, financial advisor, or tax professional appropriate to your needs.
With your employer
We do not share your personal answers, conversation content, or recommendations with your employer.
Legal disclosures
We may disclose information when required by law, when responding to valid legal process, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of others.
Business transfers
If OEA is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the commitments in this policy.
4. Your Choices
- Opting out of communications. You can opt out of receiving email or phone communications at any time by emailing optout@pendella.com or by following the unsubscribe instructions included in our messages. For SMS, reply STOP to opt out.
- Access, correction, deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. To make such a request, contact us at the email below.
- Do Not Track. The Service does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. We will delete or anonymize your information when it is no longer needed for these purposes.
6. Children
The Service is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No internet transmission or storage system is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated to you by email.
